Internet marketing: Attention is Money

Internet Marketing: Attention is money

Attention is money! What do I mean by that? There are so many distractions around us that it can be hard to attract attention to a product. It can be very competitive between not just the larger companies, but now there are social media sites that are distracting the eyes and ears of the very people whose attention we want focused on our product.

First way to guarantee attention online

But I wouldn’t be writing this is I didn’t have a solution. There are ways you can compete so do not despair. You do not have to have a boatload of money to advertise either. One very creative way to get attention is to be endorsed by a celebrity. I’m not talking about a superstar actor or singer, but a local media celebrity. Who are they? Look in your local paper to see who is being written about. Someone in your area or neighborhood who is doing something newsworthy or positive. Since they are local they should not be difficult to get their address, email or phone number. Simply contact them and tell them you would like to send them your product or service as a gift. Tell them you would like to get their honest opinion about your product (services) in a few days. Use their response as a tool in your marketing. If the review is positive, then ask them to tweet, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or any other social media site they belong to. Offer a discount for everyone who mentions their name or offer a small donation to a local charity for every person who mentions their social media connection.

Getting attention on you is an easy way to generate money

Another easy, inexpensive way to market yourself is to create a YouTube video. This is a powerful marketing platform. Don’t just make any old video though. Give some thought to it. A keyword headline that garner attention should start you out. Do research on what they best headlines that get the most hits as related to your product a/o services. Don’t be too long or share too much in one video. If you have a lot to offer, several short videos are best. Create a specific channel for the videos and ask each viewer to subscribe to your channel for further updates and information.

Don’t worry, it is not necessary to have a small fortunes worth of audio or video equipment. Chances are, you have a smart phone or laptop and this is sufficient enough to capture a perfectly suitable online video. Several computers have editing software built into them. If yours does not, there are several free alternatives that do simple editing and can be found with a simple google search. I use Movavi Video Editor and it gets the job done. It you don’t want to bother with tech then consider outsourcing.

Looking to avoid the spotlight?

One last way to help you in marketing is to write an Ebook. Yes, attention is money, but it doesn’t have to be attention on you. As long as you are responsible for what is capturing the attention, you will make money.

From there you can create something relating to your product or an issue in the related industry of your product. This could be a video training, a digital course, a paid webinar, a coaching program, a book, etc.

Amazon allows you to upload self written digital books for free with them taking a 33 percent profit on every sale the book generates. Then you can find a voiceover artist who will work on profit share and it’s no money out-of-pocket for an autiobook you can share on Audible. Your goal is not to get rich off of the sales of the book, but to use it as a lead in encouraging the reader to go to your personal website for more information. Make the book affordable and then promote it. Just be sure you have a compelling call to action somewhere in your book that is aligned with your value ladder and will encourage your reader to purchase another product or service from you.

.Attention is money, so start making yours today.
